General
The British Oculoplastic Surgery Society ("BOPSS") is concerned with the protection of your privacy and complies with all relevant European legislation (in particular Directive 95/46/EC) and UK legislation (in particular the 1998 Data Protection Act).
While surfing on the BOPSS website at www.bopss.org (the "Website"), BOPSS will not collect any personal data from you. In order to improve the services offered on the Website and in order to gain insight as to which pages are more popular, anonymised statistics are obtained detailing amongst other things which pages are accessed, when they are being accessed and with what browser.
Creating an account on this website
Some parts of the Website (for example member-only areas and areas related to congress registrations) are protected using a login-scheme. BOPSS has taken appropriate measures to protect all data stored on the Website. In order to access these protected parts, you will need to register. By registering, you explicitly agree that your personal data may be processed by BOPSS for the purpose of providing the services offered at the Website. Payments
BOPSS organizes congresses from time to time and collects membership fees from its members. BOPSS does not store your credit card information on the Website: all credit card transactions are handled through Ogone, a trusted and reliable credit card processor. BOPSS does, however, store the date and reference number of all payment transactions.
Cookies
This website uses so-called cookies. Cookies are small files installed on your computer's harddrive which can contain several types of data. On this website, two types of cookies are used.
First, there are "session cookies" which are deleted immediately once you close your browser. These session cookies are only used to facilitate the way webpages are displayed. They do not contain any personal data.

Audit data
Members of BOPSS can upload audit data to the Website in order to facilitate audit information statistics, which are used for medical and scientific purposes. Any member uploading such audit data, must take care to remove as much personal data related to a patient as possible. In addition, a patient's consent must be obtained before storing any audit data.
